Sacramento LGBT History Project

Started by community member Jerry Sloan, the purpose of the Sacramento LGBT History Project is to:

  1. Establish a LGBT time line for Sacramento.
  2. Collect Pictures, memorabilia of Sacramento LGBT events.
  3. Collect video oral histories.
  4. Publish a book with Sacramento LGBT history.
  5. Establish a visible archive with either Sac State, Sacramento Library, or the Crocker Museum.

Author Michael Helquist read from his book on Marie Equi, an early 20th century queer woman activist, in summer 2017. Helquist also wrote “The Helquist Report” for The Advocate in the 1980s, which updated the community on the AIDS Crisis.
